"She's going to be so deeply missed by so many friends," her mother, Alyce Gross, said. "I know she's with God. I think a message she would send her friends is just be good to each other and enjoy life and take good care of yourself."

In lieu of flowers or money, the Gross family asked that any donations be made to the Utah Food Bank.

The Utah Avalanche Center listed Monday's slide danger as "moderate" to "considerable" on steep slopes loaded with wind-drifted snow.

Snowbird did not open the Baldy area Monday.

"We are currently undergoing a thorough investigation with multiple agencies," said Snowbird spokesman Jared Ishkanian.

The resort will look at everything that happened that day, from snow conditions to Snowbird's own avalanche-control efforts, he said. Updates will be given in the coming days, but there was no new or preliminary information about the slide to report Monday, he said.

Monday, Ishkanian said Snowbird was "reaching out" to the Gross family.

"We want to express our condolences and touch base with them," he said.
