DUP's Christmas program on Friday will feature music, stories, treats
The International Daughters of Utah Pioneers will present their Christmas program on Friday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Memorial Museum, 300 N. Main in Salt Lake City. The program will feature a performance by the musical group Sweet Harmony. The free event also includes Christmas stories, music and refreshments.
A heritage tree honoring Utah pioneers is in the front lobby, and a snowman tree is in the lecture room.

Kershisnik's 'Nativity' on display
The Christmas-themed work of LDS artist Brian Kershisnik is on display at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City.
Kershisnik's "Nativity," a depiction of the birth of Christ that stands more than 7 feet high and 17 feet wide, is now on the Highlights Wall in the museum's main lobby until Jan. 2.
The museum is located in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building at 410 Campus Center Drive. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday (open until 8 p.m. on Wednesday) and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays, as well as Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Elder Bednar to address Y. society
Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will speak at the BYU Management Society's annual Christmas luncheon on Tuesday at noon at the Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City.
Family of chapter members are invited to the event at the member luncheon rate.
Elder Bednar was ordained a member of the Quorum of the Twelve on Oct. 7, 2004. He also has served as an Area Authority Seventy, Area Authority, regional representative, twice as stake president and bishop.
Elder Bednar attended Brigham Young University, where he received bachelor's and master's degrees. He also received a doctoral degree in organizational behavior from Purdue University.
After completing his education, Elder Bednar was a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and the University of Arkansas. He then served as the president of Brigham Young University-Idaho from 1997 to 2004.

Story time Fridays at Y. museum
PROVO — Story time for toddlers and preschoolers will be 11 to 11:30 a.m. every Friday in December at Brigham Young University's Museum of Peoples and Cultures. Each week, folk tales will be used to explore common elements like music, prayer and art among the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica, Africa and South America. The program is free.
The Museum of Peoples and Cultures is at 700 N. 100 East, Provo. The museum is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
