Kristine Frederickson on MormonTimes.com: Making Christmas real with music
The First Presidency wrote, "Some of the greatest sermons are preached by the singing of music ... (because) hymns invite the Spirit of the Lord, create a feeling of reverence, unify us ... and provide a way for us to offer praises to the Lord." Perhaps that is why I love Christmas music so much of it invites the Spirit because it teaches of the life and mission of the Savior Jesus Christ and ultimately reminds of his supernal atoning sacrifice for each of us.
Not only do the words of Christmas songs turn our thoughts to the Savior but the music itself often has the capacity to touch and stir our souls.
