"He still feels completely humiliated to have been stripped of the captaincy and is strongly thinking about a move in January," the Sun quoted the unidentified family member as saying. "The summer would be too far away. He says he is lonely in the dressing room and at training, and he doesn't really have many friends."

Gallas played for Marseille and Chelsea before moving to the Gunners two years ago.

Appiah a Spur?

Ghana captain Stephen Appiah could be on his way to Tottenham as part of coach Harry Redknapp's bid to strengthen the squad in January, the Mirror reported.

Appiah has been without a club since buying himself out of the remaining year of a contract with Turkey's Fenerbahce.

The Mirror said Redknapp was also looking to swoop for England international defender Glen Johnson from his former club Portsmouth.

West Ham sales

West Ham is likely to sell injured striker Dean Ashton during the January transfer window as it attempts to cut costs, the Daily Telegraph said.

The team's Icelandic owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson has seen his fortune shrink in recent months and has told coach Gianfranco Zola that he will need to trim his squad, the paper said. Zola wont have to sell his England international defender Matthew Upson despite many enquiries, the newspaper said.

Heskey price

Wigan coach Steve Bruce will only part with striker Emile Heskey if he is offered 10 million pounds for the England national team player, the Sun said.

Heskey, who can leave for nothing at the end of the season, has interested Aston Villa, Liverpool and Manchester City among others, the tabloid said.

"Some might think we'd be prepared to accept 2 to 3 million pounds rather than let him go for nothing next July," the Sun quoted Bruce as saying. "But I wouldn't consider it. You have to weigh that up against the 30 million pounds or so for staying in the Premier League."
