Triano, who was raised in Niagara Falls, was head coach of Canada's national team from 1998-2004.
The former guard was a 1981 Los Angeles Lakers draft choice who also took part in the Jazz's 1984-85 fall camp, though he never did play a regular-season NBA game.
Triano did play for Canada's national team from 1978-90, including the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics.
HELP WANTED: Sloan went into the Jazz's game against Miami on Wednesday seeking more defensive help from his big men.
"Our big guys haven't been as good defensively as we'd like for 'em to be and they'll have to be, because so many teams guys that can step out on the floor and shoot the ball, and handle the ball," he said before Utah beat Sacramento on Tuesday night.
"It's not like the big, stationary center that everybody's been so accustomed to over the years," Sloan added. "All that's changed with the way the rules are. ... It puts a lot more premium on your ability to get out on the floor as a big guy."
