So much for that home-court advantage the Utah Jazz used to be able to claim.
For the third time in nine days, the Jazz lost at EnergySolutions Arena as the visiting Miami Heat finished their five-game Western trip with a 93-89 win over Utah tonight.
Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 23 points to help send the Heat home with a 10-9 record after a 3-2 trip.
Utah, which won at Sacramento Tuesday night while Miami rested, fell to 12-8 and 8-3 in the building in which they only lost four times all last season.
Paul Millsap and Ronnie Brewer led a shorthanded Jazz squad. Millsap, starting again for the injured Carlos Boozer, scored 20 points with 13 rebounds, while Brewer also scored 18.
The Heat torched the Jazz in the beginning of the third quarter, scoring the first nine points and blocking three Utah shots. Even after Mehmet Okur finally scored for Utah 3 1/2 minutes into the half, the Heat stayed red-hot, building a 15-point lead.
Utah closed the gap to single digits at 74-65 with a 6-0 spurt at the end of the third.
The Jazz got within seven a couple of times early in the fourth, but Miami rebuilt its lead to 13 before the Utah rallied again.
Deron Williams, playing with a sore ankle and a strained right hip flexor, hit a 3-pointer and then assisted Millsap on a drive that brought the Jazz within four at 93-89 with 37.3 seconds left.
But the Jazz only got a missed Williams 3-point attempt off after that.
Williams finished with 13 points and five assists in a rough 4-for-12 shooting night.
Miami took a 47-45 lead into the locker room led by Wade's 11 points. Daequan Cook also hurt the Jazz from outside, nailing two 3-pointers and scoring 10 in the half.
Adding to the Jazz's injury list, second-year big man Kyrylo Fesenko didn't dress after straining his lower back in pregame warm-ups.
The Jazz also played without Carlos Boozer (strained left quad), Andrei Kirilenko (right ankle inflammation), Matt Harpring (strained lower back) and Jarron Collins (inflamed right elbow). Brevin Knight (sprained left index finger) dressed but did not play.
The Jazz have Thursday off but resume play with back-to-back games on Friday at home for a late-for-ESPN 8:30 p.m. tip against Toronto and Saturday in Phoenix.
