LOGAN A couple involved in a bizarre kidnapping and beating of a woman have struck plea deals with prosecutors.
Court records show Antonio Luis Medina, 21, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, during a court appearance Tuesday in 1st District Court. He will be sentenced Jan. 12. His co-defendant, Stephanie Lynn Smith, 18, was sentenced on Tuesday to 1-to-15-years in prison for aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
Logan police said the two kidnapped a 23-year-old woman in an apartment back in July, tying her up and beating her with a belt and a fan, stabbing her with scissors, throwing darts at her and biting her. The couple then had sex in front of her, police claimed.
When the woman was taken to a car and driven toward Logan Canyon, she jumped out and ran to a nearby business for help.
