His parents arrived home a short time later, and Michael and his father went to each other and hugged without saying a word.

Michael said the burglars took several items from the house, including a couple of DS game systems and an iPod. There were several other items bagged and lined up ready to be taken that were left behind, he said.

Michael said other children his age can learn from his ordeal that it's important to know how to use 911, know the importance of stranger danger, what their address and phone numbers are and to stay calm.

"Don't get too freaked out," he said. "I was scared. But if you call police, they will come help."

Detectives were looking Tuesday for a 1970s-era light green Ford pickup. The intruders were wearing dark clothing with hoods, said Jones. Anyone with information is asked to call Salt Lake police at 799-INFO (4636).
