A man had to get 65 stitches after another man attacked him with a meat cleaver, prosecutors say.
The victim said he got into a fight with Matthew Bryan Stone, 22, of Salt Lake City, near 225 E. 400 South on Nov. 10, according to charges filed recently in 3rd District Court. The victim told Utah Transit Authority police he tried to leave, but Stone insulted the victim's girlfriend, and he threw a soda in retaliation.
Stone then grabbed a meat cleaver he had been wearing as a necklace and attacked the victim, slicing him on the face, arm and chest, charges state.
The victim suffered several cuts and had to get about 65 stitches, according to the charges.
Stone faces one charge of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
