• If you think you have been scammed, file a complaint at ftc.gov. Also visit the FTC's identity-theft Web site, www.consumer.gov/idtheft.

Again, I'm sure you've heard or read all of this before, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Be careful out there in cyberspace this holiday season, and remember to keep your personal information to yourself!

On a different note, I wanted to let you know about a new feature on the Deseret News Web site.

We have started some message boards on a variety of topics, including health and fitness, aging, parenting and, my personal favorite, family finances. This is a chance for you to chat with other readers, maybe have some questions answered and get ideas for dealing with your own financial challenges. I'll be joining in the conversation occasionally, and I may use some of the discussion in future columns.

To take a look, go to lifetalk.deseretnews.com, and let your voice be heard!

Or, if you'd rather communicate with me directly, send your financial questions or comments to gkratz@desnews.com or to the Deseret News, P.O. Box 1257, Salt Lake City, UT 84110.
