NOVEMBER STREAK OVER: Saturday's loss to Utah marked BYU's first loss in the month of November since falling to the Utes in 2005 in Provo, snapping a streak of 11 consecutive wins. =It was also the Cougars' first setback on the road in November since losing to Utah in 2004. BYU had won seven straight road games in November.=

STORMING THE FIELD: In the game's closing seconds, Utah fans rushed the field to celebrate. It created some anxious moments as BYU's players tried to leave the field.=

"I don't think there was any way to avoid an incident with that, with fans running on the field and saying and doing the things they were doing," and I'm certainly glad they're supporting their team, but it put people at risk on both sides ... I'm glad everyone got off (the field) safely."=

"There are fans on both sides who act like morons," said Cougar defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen. "I'm not saying just the Utah side, it's both sides. We as players have to be the bigger people in this and show that that kind of crap isn't acceptable."

INJURIES: Running back Harvey Unga and wide receiver Michael Reed were injured on BYU's final drive against Utah. They will be evaluated over the weekend.

Tight end Dennis Pitta, who suffered a sprained MCL last week at Air Force, played significant minutes against Utah, catching two passes for 33 yards.

Did Pitta's limitations negatively impact the offense?

"Dennis plays a huge part in our offense. But we knew at the very beginning of the week that he could be hurt and limited," Mendenhall said. "We planned the best we could, and our offense did move the ball effectively. It just self-destructed, made turnovers at critical times, and that changed the game."

NO HAKA: According to Mendenhall, his team did not perform its traditional pre-game Haka dance before the game because it ran out of time. The Utes honored their seniors prior to kickoff, and the Cougars waited until the ceremony was over to come out of the locker room.

"We were held and no one told us when to come on the field," Mendenhall said. "I made a choice to go. By then, the 15-minute clock had run out and they were on the field to do the opening kickoff."
