MONTREAL Former Utah State quarterback legend Anthony Calvillo was named the Canadian Football League Most Outstanding Player, announced Thursday, prior to Sunday's 96th Grey Cup championship.
Montreal faces the Calgary Stampeders on Sunday, Nov. 23 with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. (MT) from Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada. The game will be broadcast on Versus .
This is Calvillo's second time winning the honor, with his first coming back in 2003. The 15-year veteran took 27 of 46 first-place votes from the Football Reporters of Canada.
Calvillo threw for 5,633 yards this season with a 69.2 completion percentage for a CFL-best passer rating of 107.2.
In addition to Calvillo, former Aggie cornerback Mark Estelle will be in action for Montreal, which is going for its sixth Grey Cup title in franchise history, as Calvillo led the Allouettes to the 2003 title.
Calvillo, a Los Angeles native who played at Utah State from 1992 to 1993, is ranked No. 31 in the NCAA record book for career total offense per game with 265.4 yards.
