Utah Jazz: Jazz lose to San Antonio — again

SAN ANTONIO — By George — and Roger, of all people — the Spurs did it to the Utah Jazz in San Antonio yet again.

For the 22nd time in a row, the Jazz played the role of the Washington Generals in San Antonio, getting blown away by the Spurs 119-94 tonight at the AT&T Center.

The shorthanded Spurs took advantage of the even more shorthanded Jazz from outside, hitting 15-of-24 3-pointers en route to the blowout victory.

Utah had no answer for San Antonio, playing without Carlos Boozer (quad), Deron Williams (ankle), Kyle Korver (wrist) and Jarron Collins (elbow).

Though San Antonio was without Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, Roger Mason and George Hill more than made up for their absence. Mason scored a game-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers. Hill, the Spurs' first-round pick who was taken 26th overall, chipped in a career-high 23 points.

Ronnie Brewer led the Jazz in scoring with 17 points and C.J. Miles added 16, but the Jazz lost for the fourth consecutive time on the road this year while dropping to 8-5. They play again Saturday night in Memphis at 6 p.m.

Utah hasn't won in San Antonio since winning 101-87 on Feb. 28, 1999. Since then, the Jazz have lost 19 regular-season games and three playoff contests in a row. Their next attempt to snap the skid will come toward the end of the season, on April 10, 2009.

This was 6-6 San Antonio's highest offensive output in a regulation game this season. The only other time the Spurs surpassed the century mark in points was a double-overtime129-125 win over Minnesota.

The Spurs blew Utah off the court in the third quarter. After a Brewer dunk brought the Jazz to within 61-55, San Antonio dominated the rest of the quarter en route to taking a 24-point lead into the fourth quarter.
