Nativity project plans lighting ceremony
The Nativity Project in Layton will hold its second annual lighting ceremony for the Nativity on Sunday, Nov. 23, 5:30 p.m. The event will include carols and other Christmas activities on private property adjacent to the Layton City's park property at 448 Constitution Circle. The public is invited. The project received donations for purchase three wise men figures, completing its 16-piece display. It will be on display each night from Nov. 23 through Jan. 2, 2009.
Interfaith choir will sing 'Messiah'
An interfaith choir will present Handel's "Messiah" for the holidays for the 17th year. The concert will be on Sunday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m., at Olympus High School, 4055 S. 2300 East. This choir will also sing during services at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 E. Murray-Holladay Road, on Nov. 30, 11 a.m. For more information, call 277-2631.
'Lessons and Carols' festival at St. Mark's
A "Festival of Lessons and Carols" will be Sunday, Nov. 30, 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Cathedral, 231 E. 100 South. Each year the Cathedral invites various civic, religious and community leaders to read the lessons and a reception is held following the service in the Deans' Hall. This service has become a Salt Lake City community tradition during this holiday season, and the public is cordially invited to make this a part of their family tradition. Each year the offering from the service is given to a local charity. This year the gift will go to Holy Cross Ministries.
Schaefer to speak at Juan Diego High
Linda Schaefer, a former CNN editor and photojournalist, will speak about work with Mother Teresa on Monday, Dec. 1, at Juan Diego Catholic High School 300 E. 11800 South, Draper. She will make a presentation to students (free and open to the public) in the auditorium at 1:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. and will speak during a formal "Spiritus Donorum Dinner" in the Little Theater The school will also have a public display of photos taken of the mission work in Calcutta, Dec. 1-5.
