WOODLAND, Wasatch County — A small plane crashed near here Friday, seriously injuring three people.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna 172 went down about 1:30 p.m. Friday with three people on board. An emergency beacon alerted authorities to the crash, FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer told the Deseret News.

Wasatch and Summit County rescuers responded to the Soapstone Wilderness area, a remote area near state Route 35.

One of the people on board works for the Airmed medical flight service as a paramedic, University Hospital spokesman Chris Nelson said. The three people were flown to University Hospital in serious condition, but Nelson could not release their current conditions.
