A man who hired workers at a Lindon manufacturing plant has been sentenced to three years probation for hiring illegal immigrants.
Alejandro "Alex" Urrutia-Garcia was sentenced in federal court Thursday to probation. The U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah said that in 2007, Urrutia-Garcia was the director of human resources for Universal Industrial Sales and told two different illegal aliens where they could obtain fraudulent identification to work at the Lindon-based company.
Urrutia-Garcia admitted to the charges in an April plea deal that also included cooperation with the government, federal prosecutors said.
The company was raided in February, and 57 workers were detained. Universal Industrial Sales has pleaded not guilty to charges filed against it.
