ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-1 Friday night at the Sullivan Arena.

Alaska built a 2-0 lead in the first 5:16 of the contest before Utah made it 2-1 on a goal from Tom May, assisted by Reagan Leslie, at 13:11 of the opening frame. Mike Mole made 11 straight saves to finish the period, and Utah killed a big penalty to sustain the momentum going into the first intermission trailing 2-1.

However, in the second, Alaska took the momentum back with two early goals to build a 4-1 lead and then added one more in the third for the final score.

All goals scored in the game were five-on-five.

Mole, the Grizzlies' goalie, stopped 29-of-34 shots in the contest for Utah, as he made his eighth-straight start.
