Tyler Morales is making a habit of producing big time performances for Juan Diego in the 3A state tournament.
A week after posting 202 yards against Logan, Morales lit up Park City for 187 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries to power the Soaring Eagle's 21-3 semifinal victory over the Miners on Friday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The senior accounted for Juan Diego's first trips to the end zone. Morales scored twice in the second quarter on runs of 20 and 36 yards to give the Soaring Eagle a 14-3 halftime lead.
One factor that also helped Juan Diego take control was the turnover battle. The Soaring Eagle forced six fumbles and recovered three. Park City coughed up five turnovers overall, with a couple coming on interceptions thrown by Erik Walker.
