PROVO A man who police say punched his female friend then threatened to kill her if she got into a relationship with anyone else has been booked into jail.
On Nov. 5, a woman came to the Provo police station sobbing and with a red mark on her chest resembling a handprint, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
She said earlier that day her friend had called her and said he had something to give her, according to the affidavit. When she met him at a restaurant's parking lot at 1081 S. University Ave., in Provo, she told police the man immediately got into her car and punched her in the throat.
The man, 40, then put a knife to her throat and said he did not want her to be with anyone in a relationship and if she was, he would kill her, the affidavit states. He also threatened to kill her if she told police about the assault.
Police tracked the man down and arrested him Wednesday evening.
He was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
