A West High School teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student will go on trial next year.

Jose Bernardo Fanjul, 45, pleaded not guilty Monday in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court to five counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, and five more counts of forcible sex abuse, a second-degree felony. Court minutes said a judge scheduled a three-day jury trial beginning Feb. 10.

Salt Lake County prosecutors accuse Fanjul of engaging in various sexual acts with a girl at West High School after hours. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 22.
