Cedar City votes for pool
Cedar City Mayor Gerald Sherratt said Tuesday's decision passed with thousands of votes to spare.
Iron County and the county's school district will help pay for the $9.5 million center.
City residents can use one of the pools at Southern Utah University, but that arrangement will end in 2010. That's when the new indoor pool is supposed to open. It will be part of a 40-acre recreation complex the city bought for nearly $1 million.
The area consists of a reservoir with a sandy beach where people can go fishing, boating and swimming. The city also plans to add six baseball diamonds to the center.
Zions Bank Vice President Jonathan Ward says Cedar City should have no problems finding investors willing to buy the city's bond.
