5A PLAYOFFS
SKYLINE 7, LAYTON 0: Skyline quarterback Kevin Wagstaff helped the Eagles come out on top by scoring the only points of the game with a 1-yard rushing touchdown with 5 seconds left on the clock. Wagstaff finished with 63 yards rushing and 57 yards passing, while running back Caleb Latteier added 99 yards on the ground. The Eagles defense controlled the pace of the game, allowing only 11 Layton first downs.
BINGHAM 48, JORDAN 20: Jake Soffe led the explosive Bingham offense going 11-for-17 with 290 yards and three scores. Remington Peck and Mike Edmunds hauled in seven of those passes, racking up 203 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Harvey Langi tore up the Jordan defense with 178 yards and two scores on 16 carries.
SYRACUSE 27, PLEASANT GROVE 25: In a back-and-forth game, the Titans came from behind in the fourth quarter to earn the win. Quarterback Braden Hamblin connected with receiver Rick Reardon for an 8-yard touchdown pass with only 1.2 seconds remaining on the clock for the game-winning score.
ALTA 21, DAVIS 20: Final: The Hawks stormed from behind with 14 points in the second half to overcome the Darts' stifling defense. Ammon Olsen threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Drake Eckholdt with 7:27 remaining for what became the game-winning play. Alta will move on to the semifinals despite turning the ball over six times. Olsen led the Hawks to victory by going 13-for-18 for 228 yards and two touchdowns in addition to one rushing TD. In he first half, the Davis defense jumped on the Hawks early, forcing a fumble and three interceptions in addition to holding Alta to just 129 yards of total offense in the first half. Davis quarterback sophomore Gavin Fowler threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter, one to Jordan Welk and the other to Tanner Hinds, to give the Darts the lead.
