WOMEN'S SOCCER: USU coach Heather Cairns became the first Aggie soccer coach to earn WAC Coach of the Year honors. In her sixth season, Cairns has led the Aggies to school records in overall regular-season wins (12) and conference wins (7). USU also has won a school-record seven straight. Cairns is the third Utah State coach to earn a WAC Coach of the Year honors since along with cross country and track and field coach Gregg Gensel along with volleyball coach Grayson DuBose. USU joined the WAC in 2005.
Shantel Flanary became the first Utah State soccer player to win WAC Freshman of the Year. Flanary scored three goals and one assist for seven points in conference action.
VOLLEYBALL: Rebecca Anderson and Katie Astle have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII second-team. It is the second straight year that Anderson has been named academic all-district by CoSIDA, while it is the first-ever honor for Astle.
FOOTBALL: Derek Hoke was named to the first-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII list, announced Wednesday.
Hoke becomes the first Aggie football player to earn academic all-district honors since 2002 when Jesse Busta, Jeremy Guenter and Casey Poppinga were all named to the second-team.
