An early season snowstorm has one Utah ski resort opening ahead of schedule: Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort said Wednesday that it will open Friday.
The opening is the second-earliest start to a season in the resort's 38-year history, Snowbird said in a news release.
The resort has received more than 3 feet of snow in November. Snowbird plans to open two lifts and the aerial tram to skiers and snowboarders, with more lifts and terrain to open as conditions permit.
Ski Utah spokeswoman Jessica Kunzer said that other Utah resorts are considering opening within the next week. A complete list of opening dates at Utah ski resorts is available at SkiUtah.com.
