T.J. Blickfeldt, Syracuse

Led the Titans into the quarterfinals in their first-ever appearance in the playoffs by rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries in a 42-18 win over Kearns.

Collision course

Alta and Bingham roll in 5A first round

Most high school football fans believe Alta and Bingham are on a collision course for yet another state championship matchup. Alta throttled Viewmont 55-14 while Bingham crushed Northridge 42-7.

More playoffs today

Saturday's slate includes six games

Twenty-six of the state's 32 high school football games were played on Friday, but there are six more today — four 3A and two 1A. Union at Delta and Parowan at Layton Christian highlight the slate of games.

Levi Te'o, Timpview

As expected, the Timpview T-Birds steamrolled West in the first round 49-7, with Levi Te'o scoring on runs of 5, 1 and 15 yards. He finished with 78 total yards.

Dylan Chynoweth, Park City

Senior running back rumbled for 203 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries to lead the Miners to an easy 3A first-round victory over Emery. Park City rushed for 492 yards as a team.

Home cookin' for Layton

Lancers remain perfect at home

Layton improved to 7-0 all-time at home in the postseason with its 24-7 win over Hunter Friday. It's one of only eight teams that has never lost a home playoff game, and the only one hosting this weekend.

Notable performance

Colby Richins, North Summit

Led the defending 2A state champions into the semifinals by rushing for two touchdowns in a convincing 52-29 victory over South Sevier. The senior now has 12 rushing TDs this year.
