Salt Lake County voters are happy with their countywide incumbents and ready to fund projects at the zoo and aviary, according to a new Deseret News/KSL-TV poll conducted by Dan Jones & Associates.

The poll, conducted Oct. 24-30, tabulates responses from 498 county voters and has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

Popular Democratic Mayor Peter Corroon leads his Republican challenger, Michael Renckert by a margin of 68-22 in the final days of the campaign. Corroon's numbers are up compared to a September poll by the Jones group that had the split 57-21 in Corroon's favor.

Long-time Councilman Randy Horiuchi, defending his at-large office, is ahead of Republican challenger and Salt Lake County Sheriff's Capt. Stephen DeBry by 50-41 percent.

Both the Hogle Zoo and Tracy Aviary bond proposals are finding clear support with the zoo getting a 68-28 percent margin and the Aviary at 59-33 percent.
