ST. GEORGE A fugitive wanted in the kidnapping, rape and torture of a 16-year-old girl will undergo an evaluation before he is sentenced.
Mark Clifton Bryant, 47, appeared in 5th District Court on Wednesday for sentencing. Court records indicate he was ordered to undergo a pre-sentence evaluation while he is already incarcerated in prison. The judge continued Bryant's sentencing until Jan. 7, 2009.
Bryant was accused in 2004 of raping the girl, tying her to a bed and torturing her with a blowtorch and screwdriver. He vanished just as his trial was to begin in April. He was captured last month in Florida after being featured on the TV crime show "America's Most Wanted."
