Enterprise (4-7) at Rich (5-4)
1A state tournament quarterfinal
Friday, 2 p.m.
Parry's Power Guide: Rich by 17.5 points
All-time series: Rich leads 7-1
Last meeting: 1A Semifinal, Nov. 11, 2007 Rich 20, Enterprise 7
Entering the 2008 season, Rich was widely regarded as one of the teams to beat in 1A football. Then it was throttled 40-9 by North Sevier in Week 6 changing everyone's perceptions.
The Rebels are hoping to get another shot at North Sevier, but first they must take care of business in the quarterfinals. If Rich gets by an Enterprise team it should beat this weekend it would likely face in North Sevier in next weekend's semifinals.
After that, who knows, maybe Rich would get the rematch it really wants. Kanab beat Rich in last year's 1A state championship game by 21, and then again by four in a regular season meeting back on Sept. 19.
First things first though, taking care of Enterprise. It won't be easy. Even though the Wolves are riding a three-game losing streak into the playoffs, those three losses were to North Sevier, Parowan and Kanab. They only scored 21 points in those three game, and that productivity must increase to have any shot at beating Rich.
Scoring is not a problem for Rich. It averages just a shade under 39 points per game with Bradley Holmes leading the way. The junior quarterback is dual threat every time he touches the ball with 995 passing yards and 948 rushing yards, not to mention 24 combined touchdowns.
The scary thing for Enterprise is he's not the only weapon. Seven other players have scored rushing touchdowns this year, and Caden Andersen is an outstanding receiver.
Holmes is also Rich's defensive leader with 98 tackles.
