Utah Jazz notebook: Nuggets will face Jazz with suspended 'Melo

ODDS AND ENDS: At least one online gambling site, BodogLife.com, has set 14-1 odds on the Jazz winning this season's NBA championship.

Defending champ Boston and the Los Angeles Lakers have been installed as co-favorites as 3-1, while Houston, Detroit, New Orleans and San Antonio all are favored ahead of Utah.

Other telling Bodog lines relative to the Jazz: 7-1 to win the Western Conference; favored at 1-3 to win the Northwest Division; an over/under victory count of 51, Williams 15-1 to win league MVP honors (behind nine others, including 7-1 Chris Paul and 3-1 favorite Kobe Bryant); Williams 4-1 to lead the NBA in assists per game, with Paul favored; power forward Carlos Boozer 25-1 for MVP; and big man Kosta Koufos 40-1 for Rookie of the Year.

ROSTER TALK: Fourteen ex-Jazz players are included in Opening Night rosters released Monday by the NBA:

Michael Ruffin (re-signed Monday by Chicago, as expected, and placed on the Bulls' inactive list with a sprained ankle); Mo Williams (Cleveland's new starting point guard) and Sasha Pavlovic (also with Cleveland); Jason Hart (back with the Los Angeles Clippers); Derek Fisher (L.A. Lakers); Devin Brown (New Orleans); Donyell Marshall and Louis Amundson (both on Philadelphia's bench); Raja Bell (Phoenix); Mikki Moore (Sacramento); Jacque Vaughn (a reserve in San Antonio); Kris Humphries (a backup in Toronto); and Dee Brown and DeShawn Stevenson (both with Washington).
