The Scary Aerie Halloween dinner takes place at Snowbird Resort's Cliff Lodge Friday, 6-9 p.m. Price for the four-course dinner is $39, with a lodge and dinner package offered for $159 per couple. Choice of entree includes prosciutto-wrapped monkfish, ostrich filet, free-range oven-roasted quail, or citrus marinated free-range chicken. Dessert is Death By Chocolate (933-2160).
The Mayan is hosting Halloween festivities for children who dine with their parents through Nov. 1. From 6-9 p.m., kids can meet a mythic Mayan creature called Camazotz, pass through a spook alley and receive chocolate treats. According to Mayan legend, Camazotz was a half-man, half-bat creature who escorted the souls of the dead to the afterlife.
The Thyme and Season Market Place, 3221 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful, is showcasing both fine art and fine food. The market place will have work from artists Theresa Otteson, Peter Van Alstyne, Erin Pollan, Geri Jensen, Elizabeth Matthews, Jeanie Montgomery, and G. Nicholas Johnson (386-0245).
The Grand America, 555 S. Main, is offering a small plates menu and jazz music in the hotel's lounge on Thursdays and Fridays from 5-9 p.m. Specialty drinks can also be ordered (grandamerica .com).
Roosters in Ogden and Layton now offer an early bird special. Those coming in from 3-5:30 p.m. can have a three-course meal for $10.95. Some menu choices include baked chicken Milano, penne with grilled chicken and creamy pesto, and bread pudding. The restaurants have also added brunch to Saturdays, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in addition to their Sunday brunch, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Royal Thai Kitchen has opened at 816 E. 9400 South, in the facility that was previously La Costa Restaurant. The restaurant is open Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Lunch specials are $6.99. Carry-out is available (571-8791).
Subway Restaurants of Utah and the Salt Lake City Police Department have launched a child safety initiative. Beginning this week, all Utah Subways will be stocked with free child identification kits. The kits help parents record information about their children that can help police in the event they become lost or missing.
Bambara, 202 S. Main, has a new fall/winter menu with a "new world of flavors" influence. Chef Dave Jones' new items include cedar-planked Tasmanian ocean trout, grilled Kurobuta pork, roasted Morgan Valley Lamb top sirloin, and house-made gnocchi. Entrees range from $18-$32.
IHOP restaurants are offering Trick or Treat All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes any time of day or night through October 31. The pancakes are available a la carte or as part of a combo, which start at $4.99 (www.ihop.com).
