GRANTSVILLE Police have arrested a man who led officers on a high speed chase Monday morning.
Tooele County Sheriff's Sgt. Ron Johnson was running radar on I-80 about 8:30 a.m., when a Saturn sedan blew by him at 96 mph. Johnson caught up with the car that still wouldn't pull over.
"I chased him at speeds between 96 and 103," Johnson said Monday.
Near the Grantsville exit, authorities used tire spikes to slash the vehicle's tires.
"He traveled for another mile, then stopped right in the middle of both lanes," Johnson said. "He got out, put his hands up and gave up."
The man was arrested on investigation of evading and reckless driving. Police are investigating to determine if the vehicle was stolen.
