WEST VALLEY CITY A motorcyclist was flown to the hospital with serious head injuries after crashing into a light post in a mobile-home park Sunday.
Craig Hansen, 43, was not wearing a helmet when he crashed near 3200 South and Eastcrest Road (4230 West) just before 4 p.m., said West Valley City Police Lt. Dalan Taylor.
"He was zipping through the mobile home park, came around the corner and ended up hitting a light post," Taylor said. "Most of the post is fiberglass, but it has a three- or four- foot cement base. He impacted hard enough to tear that base out of the ground."
Hansen was flown to Intermountain Medical Center with a jaw fracture and serious head injuries, police said. Investigators are looking at the possibility that alcohol played a role in the crash.
