WEST VALLEY CITY The Utah Grizzlies (2-1) dropped their first game of the season Saturday night, falling 5-0 to Alaska at the E Center.
Utah outshot Alaska 17-7 in the first period but was unable to get anything past Alaska goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureaux, who earned a shutout in the win. Alaska jumped up 1-0 in the first period with a power-play goal.
In the second period, Alaska scored four goals in six minutes and five seconds to build its lead to 5-0.
Nathan Lawson relieved Mike Mole in goal after Alaska went up 4-0 and stopped 11 of 12 Alaska shots.
Utah outshot the Aces 48-28 in the game.
The Grizzlies return to action Wednesday in Victoria, B.C.
