COMMERCE CITY, Colo. Real Salt Lake waited until the 90th minute to get the job done Saturday night and punch its playoff ticket.
Minutes from officially being eliminated from the playoffs, Yura Movsisyan knocked in an Andy Williams rebounded shot into an empty net as RSL rallied for the 1-1 draw, a result good enough to make the playoffs.
RSL will open its two-game first round playoff series against Chivas USA next Saturday at Rio Tinot Stadium.
Colorado knew it needed a win to pass RSL in the standings and earn a playoff berth and for most of the match it look like the Rapids would be successful. In the 19th minute Conor Casey slipped in behind RSL's defense and easily chipped a ball over charging RSL keeper Nick Rimando.
The lead held up until the dying minutes of the match.
RSL needed to survive five minutes of extra time earn the draw.
