A woman accused of trying to kidnap two children from the downtown Salt Lake City Library has been found mentally competent to stand trial.
Terryette Woods, 51, appeared in 3rd District Court on Monday for a hearing on her mental health. Court minutes indicate that Woods was found competent and is on medication. A judge ordered her to report to Valley Mental Health for treatment and to continue taking medication.
Woods is charged with two counts of kidnapping, a first-degree felony. Police say Woods grabbed the wrists of a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl at the library on June 20 and tried to drag them toward a door. One girl screamed and Woods left.
Woods will appear in court again on Nov. 3.
