OREM — Two men are in Utah County Jail after they attacked and robbed a man early Friday morning while he was making a beer run, police said.

Orem police Lt. Doug Edwards said the victim and his friends had been drinking at home near 1748 N. 720 West when they ran out of alcohol. The victim walked to a nearby convenience store to buy more beer.

On the way home, Edwards said, two men — later identified as Brandon Ostergaard, 20, of Lindon, and Paul Miller, 21, of Orem — pulled up and offered the victim a ride. The victim recognized the men from the party and got in the vehicle, according to police. The men drove him to a parking lot near Aspen Elementary School, and Ostergaard allegedly pushed the victim out of the car and started beating him. The men took his cell phone and about $120 in cash and drove off.

The victim walked back to the party house, and police were called an hour later.

Police were able to track down the attackers at Ostergaard's nearby house.

Both men have been booked into Utah County Jail for suspicion of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
