The Deseret News has told us virtually nothing about the stand taken by Utah's senators with regard to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. We do know from other sources that Bob Bennett was the third highest recipient of campaign contributions (over $1 million) from Freddie and Fannie. Did Sens. Bennett and Hatch join the two Idaho senators in supporting the Chuck Hagel bill three years ago that would have regulated and trimmed the two mortgage giants? Or did our "conservative" senators help this bill to fail?
