The air inside seven buildings at Hill Air Force Base will be tested for contaminants that might be seeping up from the soil.
The tests will be looking for evidence of two chemicals used in degreasing solvents.
The soil and groundwater near the buildings were contaminated years ago. Environmental engineers are trying to determine whether vapors from the chemicals are migrating up through the soil into the buildings, where they could be inhaled by employees.
Air sampling is scheduled to start Nov. 3. Results are expected in early December.
Drinking water sources at the base have not been affected by the contamination.
