"Imagine That!" is the theme of this year's John Hughes Young Writers Contest, an essay contest open to all juniors and seniors in Utah's public and private high schools.
Essays should be about 1,000 words, nonfiction, and based on personal experience, observation or opinion.
Essays must be received at the Deseret News no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 7. They can be submitted electronically to youngwriters@desnews.com (no attachments, please) or typed (no handwritten entries, please) and delivered to the Deseret News at 30 E. 100 South or mailed to Deseret News Young Writers Contest, P.O. Box 1257, Salt Lake City, UT 84110.
Include your name, address, telephone number and high school.
First place receives $1,000; second place $500; third place $250.
