Poole was a Montana native who moved to Utah several years ago.

All proceeds from the 9:30 p.m. showing on Friday at Abravanel Hall will go to the Billy Poole Memorial Fund, a charity that supports programs to "inspire kids to find their passion and achieve their dreams."

One of the more interesting and unusual segments in the movie features Drew Stoecklein, who grew up skiing at Sun Valley and now lives in Salt Lake City. His part in the movie was what he called a "Green" skiing experience. With film crew aboard, he sailed to a bay in Iceland, rowed a dingy to shore and then hiked "up about 3,000 feet ... and had some great runs.

"Skiing for a movie is exciting. But it's one of those things you've got to get right the first time ... the first run. We had to wait for the right weather when we got there. It rained and snowed on us. But it was all pretty exciting."

Stars in the Utah segment include Julian Carr, Jamie Pierre, Jenn Berg and Jeremy Nobis, all from Salt Lake City.

And just how deep was Utah's powder at the time of the shoot?

The Miller press release pointed out that Berg hiked above the helicopter crew that was filming and planted "first tracks in some of the deepest snow ever captured on film."

Said Carr of the filming, "Utah powder ... the world is a better place because of it."

Involvement in the Miller production was made possible through the increased travel/tourism budget pushed and approved by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and overseen by Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Department of Community and Economic Development.

Other filming sites include Cordova in Alaska, Okemo in Vermont, Hakuba in Japan and Iceland, along with resorts here in the United States.
