Three people charged in the death of a man found inside a West Valley City shed made their first appearances in court on Monday.
Fonua Kimoana, Ooleanui Kaina Salanoa and Tuusao Adele Ama appeared in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City where they were charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, all first-degree felonies.
According to court records, the three were appointed public defenders and another hearing was set for Oct. 27. A fourth man, Pailate Lomu, is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Tuesday.
The four are accused of forcing their way into Jay Wolfinjer's West Jordan apartment and beating him, then taking him to a shed in West Valley City where he was tortured. Jail documents claimed the slaying was apparently over a gang-related drug debt.
