The Utah Geological Survey's "Calendar of Utah Geology 2009" is now available. The calendar features 45 pictures of geologic vistas from around the state, taken by UGS employees.
Each month of the calendar highlights geologic themes such as ancient volcanoes, bizarre rockscapes, dinosaurs, geobotany, arches and the Colorado Plateau, with a short biography of each of the photographers.
"We hope the calendar will provide a glimpse of the beauty of these places for those who cannot get there, and inspire others to visit," said UGS director Rick Allis.
The calendars are available at the Natural Resources Map & Bookstore at 1594 W. North Temple in Salt Lake City, at www.geology.utah.gov, or by calling 801-537-3320 and 888-UTAHMAP. The calendars cost $4.25 each, or $3.50 for orders of 10 or more.
