W.V. police identify victim of shooting
Officer-involved incident is still under investigation
West Valley police have identified a man shot and killed by officers, but the shooting itself remains under investigation.
Marcus S. Agrillo, 38, was shot and killed Friday after a robbery and carjacking that ended near 1300 West and 2200 South. Two others, Alexia Dawn Walker, 28, and Ryan Scott Bills, 36, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery, vehicle theft and obstruction of justice.
Agrillo was released from the Utah State Prison last year after serving a sentence for drug possession, state corrections officials said.
Police would not disclose details about the shooting or whether Agrillo did anything that might prompt officers to shoot him.
"We've yet to interview the involved officers, and we have a search warrant to serve on the white Nissan that they were in to determine what's inside there," West Valley Police Capt. T. McLachlan said Saturday.
It began Friday afternoon when officers were called to a vacant home near 1800 West and 3300 South.
"The suspects contacted the victim under the guise of him doing remodeling for them," McLachlan said. "He went downstairs, and one suspect put a gun to his head, stripped him down, took his wallet, cash, car and left."
An officer spotted the victim's Ford Expedition near 1300 West and 2400 South, where McLachlan said the three got into the Nissan. They led officers on a brief chase that ended at a dead-end street nearby. Officers at the scene said the people were ordered out of the four-door sedan. Walker and Bills complied, but Agrillo stayed in the car.
Several officers opened fire, killing him. Authorities wouldn't say what prompted the officers to shoot.
"I'm not going to comment on that," McLachlan said.
The shooting is under review by West Valley police as well as the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office. Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies, Taylorsville police, U.S. Marshals Service, and Adult Probation and Parole agents were also involved, McLachlan said.
