TAYLORSVILLE Police here were looking Friday for man who carjacked and kidnapped a 78-year-old woman.
On Sept. 28, an elderly woman was walking to her car in the parking lot of Kmart, 3835 W. 5400 South, when she was approached by a man who claimed to have a gun. The gunman took the woman back into Kmart and then Albertsons where he forced her to cash several of her checks and give him the money, said Taylorsville Police Sgt. Rosie Rivera.
When he was done, he took the woman's Mitsubishi Diamante and fled. The vehicle was later found abandoned at a South Salt Lake movie theater.
Anyone with information on the man, the crime or who saw the victim's vehicle from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 can call police at 743-7000.
