A man wanted in the Massachusetts area for kidnapping, attempted murder and murder-for-hire was arrested by the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit.

Joseph O'Brien, 31, was wanted in Massachusetts, said sheriff's deputy Levi Hughes. Members of the gang unit received information that O'Brien may be in Salt Lake County, he said.

Late Monday night, members of the gang unit spotted the vehicle O'Brien was believed to be in and followed it to a store near 6900 S. Highland Drive, Hughes said. They watched the man get out of the car and go into the store, and they set up an apprehension plan while he was inside.

K9s and extra deputies were brought to the store. When O'Brien came back out to his car, he was arrested without incident.
