LOGAN (AP) After 15 years of planning, the Cache Humane Society animal shelter is open and already nearing capacity.
About 50 dogs and 60 cats await adoption or a reunion with owners. The shelter has been open about one week.
Agency director Michelle Vigil says it's sad to have so many unwanted animals in the county. Vigil says most of the animals have been rescued by volunteers at other shelters.
The shelter's long-term goal is to be the central animal impound facility for the county. Shelter operators are trying to secure contracts with all county municipalities to make it easier to reunite owners and lost pets.
