Clips coach Duleavy now G.M. as well
The Clippers also elevated Neil Olshey to assistant general manager from director of player personnel.
Dunleavy, 54, replaces Elgin Baylor, a Hall of Famer who's been an executive with the team for 22 years. Baylor, 74, joined the Clippers in 1986 as vice president of basketball operations after a 14-year playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers and a brief coaching stint with the New Orleans Jazz.
"In Mike and Neil, we're fortunate to already have talented people in place to make this transition a seamless one," Clippers President Andy Roeser said in a statement on the team's Web site.
Dunleavy, entering his sixth year as coach, had a similar dual role when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks from 1992-93 and 1995-96.
Olshey, hired as the director of player development in 2003, joined Dunleavy's staff as an assistant coach in 2004. He has been the team's director of player personnel for the past three seasons.
WOMAN CHARGED WITH STALKING LAKER: A woman has been charged with stalking Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton.
The 34-year-old Beshear has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of stalking. A Nov. 6 trial date has been set in the case. She faces up to a year in county jail if convicted, district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said Tuesday.
A phone number for Beshear was not in service.
Walton said Beshear has been harassing him since late last year. He told the Orange County Register she waited outside his Manhattan Beach home numerous times and wrote on his car with a marker after he refused to sign an autograph.
BOBCATS LOSE 2 MORE EXECUTIVES: The Charlotte Bobcats' front office turnover continued Tuesday with the team announcing that chief administration officer Jared Bartie and vice president of community relations LaRita Barber left to take new jobs.
The departures come two weeks after the team laid off dozens of employees in the marketing and business departments due to the slumping economy. Chief marketing officer Greg Economou left the organization last month.
Bartie, who took over many of Economou's duties, is leaving for World Wrestling Entertainment. Barber is taking a job with Goodwill Industries in Charlotte.
Bobcats owner Bob Johnson has lost millions since paying $300 million for the expansion franchise, which began play in the 2004-05 season.
JAMISON INJURES KNEE: Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison left his team's preseason opener against the Dallas Mavericks with a sprained right knee.
Jamison's leg buckled while playing defense midway through the first quarter Tuesday night, and he had to be helped to the locker room by teammates. A team spokesman said Jamison was out for the rest of the game.
