SPANISH FORK A new wind farm that can produce up to 19 megawatts of electricity has been dedicated.
Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and officials with Wasatch Wind and Edison Mission Group which together spearheaded the project are praising the farm, saying wind energy reduces carbon dioxide and creates a more environment-friendly resource.
The farm at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon has nine wind turbines and can produce enough power for about 6,000 homes. The turbines are connected through a power line to a substation in Spanish Fork. The power is then provided to Rocky Mountain Power, which has a 20-year contract with the farm.
