THE STAKES

For BYU: After landing in the top 10 for the first time since 2001, the Cougars are looking to remain there in their quest for a Bowl Championship Series berth.

For Utah State: For the Aggies, it's all about pride and being the spoiler. An upset of nationally ranked BYU would be a monumental step for the program and coach Brent Guy.

THE TRENDS

For BYU: The Cougars have won eight straight games against the Aggies and they lead the all-time series, 41-33-3. BYU has won 14 consecutive games, which stands as the nation's longest winning streak.

For Utah State: The Aggies are 1-46 all-time against ranked opponents, including a 54-34 defeat to then-No. 18 BYU in 2001. USU has an 18-14-2 advantage over BYU in games played in Logan.

THE EDGE

BYU will win if ... it continues to be dominating on offense and defense as it has in its previous two games. The Cougars can't afford to be complacent or overconfident.

Utah State will win if ... it holds on to the ball for long stretches, keeping BYU's offense off the field, and forces turnovers.

NEXT UP

BYU hosts New Mexico on Oct. 11. Utah State visits San Jose State Oct. 11.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Utah State sophomore quarterback Diondre Borel became the starter against Idaho and helped lead the Aggies to their first win of the season, a 42-17 trouncing of Idaho.

KEY MATCHUP

BYU's defense vs. USU's offense. The Cougars have not given up points in their last eight quarters, posting back-to-back shutouts against UCLA and Wyoming.
