LOGAN — Forwards Kassidy Christensen and Lauren Anderson each scored in the Cougars' 2-0 win over in-state rival Utah State in Logan Thursday.

"I was very pleased with the team's play," said coach Jennifer Rockwood. "I felt like we came out strong against a very good Utah State team, and we did well. Lauren had a really outstanding goal."

Christensen headed the ball past the keeper on a corner kick by Anderson. The goal gave the Cougars a quick 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. The Cougars took the lead into halftime. The goal was Christensen's third of the season. Anderson's assist was her team-leading six of 2008.

In the second half, Christensen returned the favor and assist Anderson. Coming at the 69 minute mark, Anderson's shot past the keeper to the bottom right-hand corner of the goal provided the final margin. Anderson has scored twice in 2008.

BYU outshot the Aggies 12-9. The Cougars got off to a fast start in the first half, shooting 10 times while limiting Utah State to only three shots. Aggie keeper Ali Griffin made seven saves as BYU kept the pressure on throughout the half.

The win moves the Cougars, who have not lost to Utah State (6-0 all-time) to 7-5-0 overall.
